Air Rescue's CAMTS site survey will be March 7-8!!!

What is CAMTS

Our Med-Trans flight programs are staffed by highly skilled medical experts providing care on the scene, at the referral hospital, and in route to the appropriate medical facility. The medical crew generally consists of a critical care flight nurse and a specially trained flight paramedic. They represent decades of emergency medical experience and trauma care. Our pilots are some of the best available, with thousands of flight hours acquired in their professional aviation careers. Each possesses a Class II Medical Certificate and Commercial Helicopter / Instrument Ratings. Our Flight Coordinators are licensed EMTs with at least two years experience and are responsible for processing flight requests, initiating the mission, and providing flight following for the aircraft.

The Patient

Transportation of critically ill or injured patients via helicopter can significantly reduce time in route to a hospital and allow patients to receive definitive care within the "golden hour." Air transport is beneficial when life or limb threatening conditions require specialized care or ground transport would pose unnecessary high risk either due to the level of care available or lengthy transport times.

Determining the need for helicopter transport

Air medical service may be the best means of transportation for the patient in order for them to receive immediate treatment or specialty care. The goal of air transport is to reduce the out-of hospital time and to continue the definitive intensive care initiated at your location / facility in route to the tertiary receiving facility. The air transport, with skilled critical care nurses and paramedical personnel, ensures continuity of care for the patient.
